Legal and documentation requirements To get married in The Bahamas you must be resident for 24 hours. A special licence is required, for which both persons must apply and takes 24 hours to process. It is available from the Registrar General's Office in Nassau and Freeport or the Commissioner's Office, Out Islands. Essential documentation plus valid return tickets and six month validity on passports are needed. The marriage licence costs $120 and is valid for up to three months. Two witnesses are required for the ceremony.
