Legal and documentation requirements
A Belize marriage licence is required from the Registrar's General office in Belize City or Solicitor General's office Belmopan. The couple must be resident for a minimum of 3 days prior to applying for a licence. Marriage licences are available within 24 hours for a fee of US$250 plus an administrative fee of US$5. At the wedding ceremony itself there must be two witnesses, these can include hotel staff. If you plan to get married at an Archaeological Reserve (Maya sites)in Belize, permission needs to be sought one week before the ceremony.
