Legal and documentation requirements
To get married in Bermuda a 'Notice of Intended Marriage' must be published in the Bermuda newspapers. A period of 15 days must elapse from the date of receipt of the notice by the Registry before the Registrar General may issue the licence to marry. Essential documents plus valid copies of final divorce proceedings must accompany the 'Notice of Intended Marriage'. Between the ages of 16 and 21 you must have the written consent of both parents, the surviving parent or legal guardian. A space is provided on the 'Notice of Intended Marriage' form where the person (s) giving consent are required to sign. There are no residency requirements. The ceremony requires two witnesses. The fees are: Marriage Registration BM$243, ceremony and certificate BM$24 and further copies BM$24 each.
