Legal and documentation requirements

P & O ships are licenced to hold marriages on board under their Bermudan registration.  All wedding ceremonies are conducted on sea days.  Due to health and safety restrictions it is not possible to perform weddings on the open decks.  The wedding ceremony must be witnessed by two adults.  If you do not have any witnesses travelling with you, two members of the ship's company will act on your behalf.  Once the ceremony has occurred on board you will be issued with a P & O Cruises commemorative wedding certificate.  The official marriage certificate is sent to Bermuda to register your marriage and then sent to your home address approximately 6-8 weeks after the end of your cruise.  P & O apply for the necessary marriage licence  on your behalf.
